Subj: Aeris can't be permanent?
I just lost aeris and I'm devastated. I haven't even started on the 2nd disc yet but already the game feels so empty now. Is this really supposed to happen?? I looked other places for answers whether you could bring her back and some mentioned some materia you can find underwater(?) that could bring her back to the surface, or something. Should I go to a previous save and do something differently? It felt like i could've prevented it. I just don't really want to go on until I know for sure.

Can't. it's not part of the game to bring her back. there are other choice based scenes that can play out, but Aeris dies no matter what. if you truly can't go on without her, sorry, but the rest of the game is just as good, if not better from here on out. give it a shot.
